ALL PIKES PEAK READS
appr
(All Pikes Peak Reads) hopes to engage everyone in El Paso County in reading and discussing
the same book each year. The 2002 project will feature the American
classic To Kill a Mockingbird by
Harper Lee. Book discussion groups, a mock trial, movie screenings,
writing competitions, children’s programs and many other events
are planned.
WHY
The goals of the project are to encourage community
dialog across social, cultural, and generational lines, and promote
literacy in the Pikes Peak Region. appr
is a community collaboration potentially involving thousands of
people and a broad array of businesses and organizations in a proven
community-building program.
WHO
Join the appr network of
individuals and organizations participating in 2002, including the
Pikes Peak Library District, Manitou Springs Public Library,
Security Public Library, and many other local and national entities.
This program received financial support from the Colorado Endowment
for the Humanities (CEH). CEH provides financial support for
humanities programs for the Colorado public. Colorado Endowment for
the Humanities, 1490 Lafayette Street, Suite 101, Denver, CO 80218.
Also funded in part by grants from the Independence Community Fund
and Bee Vradenburg Foundation.

There are so many ways to get involved with appr.
In addition to sponsorship, we are seeking discussion group leaders,
event volunteers, youth and senior activities coordinators, tie-ins
with organizations and businesses, in-kind donations of all types,
and help with word-of-mouth promotions. Get your family, your
