February 2003

 Preliminary planning began with newly formed Garden Committee.

Fall 2003

 Installed donated plants on the left side of Carnegie building façade.

Winter 2003-2004:

 Began demolition – concrete and asphalt removal.
 Removed subsurface concrete in front planting area.
 Obtained funds for/donations of stone for retaining walls and flagstone pathways.
 Began Preliminary grading (benching) of southern slope and grading of west side.

Spring 2004:

 Finished soil amendments for front of Carnegie Library.
 Stone delivered and retaining walls constructec.
 Installed flagstone pathways.

Summer 2004:

 Amended soil with organic material in the Demonstration Garden and lawn areas.
 Designed irrigation system for turf area.
 Finalized planting plans, lists.
 Mulched soil (gravel and organic).
 Planted trees.

Fall 2004:

 Continued obtaining commitments from sponsors, supporters, and suppliers for plants, hardscape materials (in-kind donations and monetary/legacy donations).

Spring-Summer 2005:

 Installed irrigation main lines and valves.
 Installed Netafim™ for lawn
 Delivered material and amended soil (allée and front entrance).
 Installed sod.
 Planted trees in the allée - Plaques placed at the base of each tree recognize its donor.
 Installed fence and gate for security purposes

Winter 2005-2006:

 Designed and commissioned donor recognition tree - Names of donors who have contributed $100 or more will be inscribed on the leaves of a metal tree sculpture that will be mounted on a wall in the Garden.
 Designed and commissioned arbor.
 Designed and commissioned obelisk sculpture.
 Issued a Request For Proposals for other sculptures.

Spring-Summer 2006:

 Installed Demonstration Garden irrigation.
 Planted Demonstration Garden shrubs and perennials.
 Installed benches, arbor, and obelisk - Plaques placed at the base of each bench, as well as the arbor, acknowledge its donor.
 Designed Garden and building accent lighting.
 Initiated Docent program.
 Opened Garden on a limited basis.

The following projected timeline is based on the availability of labor and funds to buy materials.

Winter 2006-2007:

 Install stage platform.
 Install flagstone at entry court.
 Install remainder of stone mulch outside gate.

Spring-Summer 2007:

 Install front entry planting.
 Install remainder of shrubs in Demonstration Garden.
 Install donor tree sculpture.
 Install additional artwork (sculpture).
 Install landscape lighting.
 Celebrate Grand Opening.

Ongoing in Future:

 Issue a Request For Proposals to install a water feature sculpture.
 Continue planting shrubs and perennials, and install associated irrigation to fill out planting plan.
 Build the endowment to maintain the Garden into perpetuity.
