Library Employee Named Administrative Professional of the Year

On April 23, 2013, Pikes Peak Library District’s Sue Hammond was named Administrative Professional of the Year by the Pikes Peak Chapter of the International Association of Administrative Professionals.

This award is given to only one exceptional administrative professional in the region each year, and it specifically focuses on the nominee’s accomplishments over the last year’s timeframe. Last year, in addition to her normal duties and supportive responsibilities for both PPLD’s Executive Director’s Office and the Board of Trustees, Hammond served as liaison with the Poet Laureate and has planned and assisted with numerous poetry programs, and was recently named to the Pikes Peak Poet Laureate steering committee. She has made several improvements to the Library’s statistics reporting, played a big part in setting up interviews and evaluations for the Library’s new facility at 1175 Chapel Hills Drive, and solicited library cards from across the country and assembled them onto a wonderful traveling display board.

“Sue is a very creative person who finds ways to make both our public programs and our presentation of information to the staff and Board more interesting,” said PPLD Executive Director Paula Miller. “She is also a thoughtful and compassionate individual, genuinely connecting with other staff and departments as well as the public very well. She is always looking at what/how we can do better. I appreciate Sue for her public service attitude, her professional relations with our Board, and her authentic respect for and relationship with our staff. Her job may be somewhat behind-the-scenes, but her work is very critical and her high standard of excellence reflects highly on administration, the library Board, and the Library District as a whole.”

Please join the Library in congratulating Sue Hammond on her excellent work and on receiving this prestigious award!
