Submit Your Best Shots for the Library's Third Place Photo Contest and Community Survey

02/28/2013

The goal of the 21st Century Library is to provide exactly what you need, in the format you desire, at the very moment when it will benefit you most. At Pikes Peak Library District (PPLD), this means focusing on convenience and consistency, and harnessing technology to provide superior services for the entire community. We want to continue to contribute positively to the quality of life in the Pikes Peak region by remaining relevant in your life.

There is a popular community planning concept that refers to the “Third Place,” those public spaces that are anchors of community life and facilitate and foster broader, more creative interaction. We feel that the public library has the potential to fill that role in our community.

Do you have a Third Place? We want to see where you are most comfortable and engaged, where you go when you are not at work or school or at home. What’s your favorite Third Place?

We invite you to post a photograph of your favorite public space on our 21st Century Library site. It can be any space that welcomes the public: indoor, outdoor, near, far, old or new. Be sure to include a few lines about what makes this space special!

Photos will be featured on Facebook and included in a slideshow on PPLD’s 21st Century Library webpage. If you post a photo by March 31, you will be entered to win cool tech prizes in a drawing to be held during National Library Week, April 14 - 20, 2013.

Our fine print: PPLD employees and their immediate family members are not eligible for prizes, but encouraged to share their photos. Photos deemed to be inappropriate will be omitted.

We’ve also got a brand new survey called 21st Century Library: Envision the Future that will assess which attributes and services of a truly modern library are important to our community. PPLD will seek to implement your feedback when it opens its brand new facility at 1175 Chapel Hills Drive in 2014!

Head to ppld.org/21CenturyLibrary to take the survey and send us your photos!
