Colorado Springs, Colo. (October 1, 2012) – Valerie Nye and Kathy Barco, editors of the book True Stories of Censorship Battles in America’s Libraries, are coming to East Library on Wednesday, October 3 to talk about their new book and about censorship in America’s libraries – public, school, prison, and more. This thought-provoking program during Banned Books Week (September 30 – October 6, 2012) will provide a history of censorship, details on the American Library Association’s involvement including Intellectual Freedom and Freedom to Read. Nye and Barco will be available for questions about the book and about censorship trends after their presentation. Teens will read excerpts from a banned or challenged book to kick off the program.
