Wireless Access at Pikes Peak Library District

PPLD offers wireless connections to the Library's Internet service at the East Library, Penrose LibraryBriargate, Cheyenne Mountain, Fountain, Monument, Old Colorado City, Palmer Lake, Rockrimmon, Ruth Holley,  and Sand Creek Branches. For patrons who do not have wireless capability, direct plug-in ports are available for public use at Fountain, Briargate, and Cheyenne Mountain Branches only, and you will need to supply your own data cable.

By logging into PPLD's wireless network, you agree to abide by the PPLD Wireless Access Policy and the PPLD Internet Use Policy.  By borrowing a PPLD laptop at the East Library, Penrose Library, Old Colorado City, Fountain or Briargate Branch, you agree to abide by the PPLD Laptop Loan Policy.

If you are bringing in your own laptop and wish to use our Internet connection you will need:

  • A PPLD library card and a PIN Number.
  • A wireless network interface card, 802.11b or later.
  • To configure your laptop to use the Library's Internet connection.
  • A charged battery. Specially designated electrical outlets are available at the Library for patron use as well.
  • Compatible headphones if you plan to use audio files.
  • For direct plug-in access to patron ports you will also need to bring a 5 ft. patch cable.

Please note that the Library cannot assist you with your laptop, card, or configuration. The Library cannot accept the liability of handling your equipment.

For basic instructions on how to connect to the PPLD wireless network, click on the link that applies to your laptop: Windows XP, Windows Vista, Mac.

If you need further assistance, try the following:

Step 1 - Change the IP address that your laptop uses.

Wireless users: You may need to configure your wireless card to connect to the proper SSID. The SSID for the PPLD network is PPLD-W.

Step 2 - Open your web browser. Accept the security certificate that the Library's system sends. You will then be asked to log in with your library card number and PIN. Once you click on “logon”, the Library's home page will come up and you are ready to use our wireless system. If you do not have a library card or a PIN, please see a member of Library staff and they will assist you.

Note: Some Mac users may need to use Netscape for the login and then may move to Explorer or Safari if desired.
