"Speak English" Facilitators

Speak English Facilitators
Speak English is an informal conversation group for adults with intermediate or better English language skills. Experience facilitating small groups is preferred. Reporting requirements: gather participant attendance and individual registration forms and submit them monthly to the literacy office via email. There is a one year minimum commitment for this position. Orientation is required and offered several times a year.

Adult Literacy Tutors

ESL & Adult Literacy Tutors
Work one-on-one with an adult, two hours a week, to improve their reading, writing, comprehension, or English language skills. Responsible for submitting a monthly report to literacy office via email. There is a one year time commitment expected when paired with a student. Orientation is required and offered several times a year.

ESL/High School Equivalency (HSE) Classroom Assistants

Assist an ESL or HSE class instructor once or twice a week (mornings or evenings) in a classroom setting. Must have a willingness to assist instructor and students in classroom activities. There is a six-month minimum commitment when assigned to a class. Orientation is required and offered several times a year.

Movie Time for English Language Learners

An informal group where learners watch a movie, stop at a natural pause point, and discuss in English what they did or did not understand. Experience facilitating a small group is preferred. Reporting requirements: gather participant attendance and individual registration forms and submit them monthly to the literacy office via email. There is a one year minimum commitment for this position. Orientation is required and offered several times a year.
