		<description><![CDATA[I saw Theatreworks and New York&#8217;s Flying Machine&#8217;s presentation of Alice in Wonderland this past weekend and boy was it a wild ride!  It was cleverly conceived and superbly acted on a imaginatively constructed stage.  I was very entertained and amused by the antics of Tweedles Dee and Dum in particular.

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I saw Theatreworks and New York&#8217;s Flying Machine&#8217;s presentation of <em>Alice in Wonderland</em> this past weekend and boy was it a wild ride!  It was cleverly conceived and superbly acted on a imaginatively constructed stage.  I was very entertained and amused by the antics of Tweedles Dee and Dum in particular.</p>
<p><em>Alice&#8217;s</em> last shows were this past weekend, but Theatreworks has many other productions coming your way.  You can check their schedule <a target="_blank" href="http://www.uccstheatreworks.com/currentseason.htm">here</a>.  Sometimes you can pick up tickets for free the day of show.  You can&#8217;t beat that deal, so get some culture and go the theater!</p>

Beautiful weather and live performances made the Saturday, September 24 kick-off party for All Pikes Peak Reads the best yet in the program’s five year history. More than 1,000 people attended to play flamingo croquet and see live jazz by the Colorado Springs Conservatory, a skit by Manitou Art Theater, 14-foot Jabberwocky puppets courtesy of Razzamataz Productions, and a finale by the Colorado Springs Youth Symphony and Colorado Springs Children’s Chorale.

On Saturday, August 26 more than 550 people attended the opening of a new city park - Ye Olde Castlewood Park - designed with thematic elements from Lewis Carroll’s <em>Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland</em>. 250 free copies of the book were given to children who attended the event, in addition to lots of free games, food, and fun featuring costumed characters like the Mad Hatter, the Queen of Hearts, Tweedle Dee, Tweedle Dum, the White Rabbit, and of course, Alice.

<p>Learn more about this year’s 2006 All Pikes Peak Reads book, <em>Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland</em>, while enjoying this unique, mystical park with castle-themed play equipment and a playground with both tiny and grand proportions. </p>
<p>Meet characters who will sign your own copy of the book. There will also be food, games and a grand prize drawing for an Extreme Bedroom Makeover in the theme of Alice In Wonderland! </p>
<p>APPR is a community-wide literary program designed to get everyone in El Paso County to read and discuss the same book each year. Come learn more about the book everyone will be talking about this fall!</p>
