Alice in Wonderland at Theatreworks

I saw Theatreworks and New York’s Flying Machine’s presentation of Alice in Wonderland this past weekend and boy was it a wild ride! It was cleverly conceived and superbly acted on a imaginatively constructed stage. I was very entertained and amused by the antics of Tweedles Dee and Dum in particular.

Alice’s last shows were this past weekend, but Theatreworks has many other productions coming your way. You can check their schedule here. Sometimes you can pick up tickets for free the day of show. You can’t beat that deal, so get some culture and go the theater!

What’s Your Favorite Character?

The Mock Turtle, Alice, and the Gryffon  My husband and I are reading Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland out loud to each other.  We are currently at “The Lobster Quadrille”.  So far, I think the Cheshire Cat is the most reasonable, and therefore refreshing, of the characters.  However, I find myself preferring the Mock Turtle, with its cow-head and cloven hooves a personification of its pun-driven conversation with Alice and the Gryffon.  I’ve always had a weakness for puns…

What’s your favorite character?  Come now, don’t be shy…
