This database presents global perspectives on 21st –century social, political, military, economic, environmental, science related, health related, and cultural issues of international importance and current world events and topics in the news related to these issues.

Local TV stations cover video game story
Southern Colorado television stations KKTV 11 News and KRDO News Channel 13 have each aired reports about PPLD’s new service of circulating video games. They have posted streaming video of their reports to their websites:
NEW! Online Book Clubs

PPLD is proud to offer our newest service, Online Book Clubs. Sign up for any listed book club and each weekday you will be emailed a short selection from a chapter of the featured book. By the end of each week you’ll have read 2-3 chapters!
Also, don’t forget we sponsor book discussion groups that meet in person at various branches throughout the district.
Digital Photograph Archives gets a face lift
PPLD’s Digital Photograph Archives have been renovated to accomodate a large influx of digitized materials.
The Archives contain approximately half a million images on subjects covering Colorado Springs, the Pikes Peak region, Colorado, the Rocky Mountain West, and the Southwest. Collections include a wide variety of formats, including glassplate negatives, stereo views, cyanotypes, and daguerreotypes as well as the more familiar acetate negatives, slides, and prints.
BusinessDecision
Pikes Peak Library District has purchased a new business database called BusinessDecision.
BusinessDecision is a reporting and mapping service that combines extensive consumer household, market segmentation, and demographic data with GIS mapping technology. Patrons can use this database to gather information to start a business or expand a business. The Library can use this service to better understand the various communities that we serve.

All Pikes Peak Reads Website
In case you haven’t heard, All Pikes Peak Reads (APPR) 2008 kicks off on September 21. The selections for this year are The Grapes of Wrath, by John Steinbeck and The Worst Hard Time, by Timothy Egan.
