DUCK, DUCK, GOOSE @ Monument Branch!

Many patrons know that the Monument Branch has a pond behind it that is home to ducks and geese. Children come to the Branch to feed our feathered friends with cracked corn all year long. May 13th we will officially celebrate our resident fowl. We’ll begin with a nature walk led by “Duck Guy Brian” to learn about the ducks and geese and their homes near the pond. Then local artist and instructor, Janet Sellers, will teach young and old how to draw ducks. There will be treats and honks, and crafts and quacks, too! Celebrating spring is just “ducky” at the Monument Branch!

When: Saturday, May 13 at 1:30 p.m.
Where: Monument Branch

Fund-raising success at the new Fountain Branch

Black Tie and Boots Ball On Saturday, April 22, the Black Tie and Boots Ball fund-raiser at the NEW Fountain Branch Library netted a little over $10,000! The live auction raised fun and money for the new branch as auctioneer Randy Lewis teased, threatened, and joked his way to fun and fund-raising for the library. The Fountain Downtown Events Association organized the event along with Branch Manager Julianne Rist and PPLD Foundation staff. Fountain Mayor Jeri Howells and former Mayor Ken Barela welcomed everyone along with new PPLD Executive Director Paula Miller — all three recognized how much the people of Fountain have done to support this new 10,000-square-foot library. All proceeds from the event will go to support the new Fountain Branch.

The new Fountain Branch Library on 230 S. Main St. will open to the public on May 18.
