Old Colorado City Branch Construction Update

Old Colorado City Branch Construction

Tearing down the walls!

After the first two weeks of Old Colorado City Carnegie Library project, walls have disappeared throughout the building with preliminary demolition. Also, several walls in the basement and walls delineating staff areas on the main floor have been removed. The photograph above shows the new expanded meeting room beginning to take shape.

The Bookmobile stops on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at the Branch are very popular. Remember that if you want to pick up items at the Old Colorado City Bookmobile, simply continue to choose Old Colorado City as your pick up location when placing holds.

World Music Series

In a musical tradition dominated by male groups, Mariachi Reyna de Los Angeles are true revolutionaries!

Despite the pink charros and model-perfect looks, the women who form this group are all outstanding musicians who have taken the mariachi genre by surprise with their creativity and skill.

“La Reyna” came into existence through the auspices of the Mariachi Heritage Society, a non-profit organization established by Jose Hernandez, musical director of Los Angeles’ renowned Mariachi Sol de Mexico.

Ranging in ages from 13 to 34, the mujeres of Mariachi Reyna reflect a wide variety of mariachi and other musical influences but they all share a love of the uniquely Mexican music and its traditions.
