Former Prime Minister of Pakistan Benazir Bhutto

Former Prime Minister of Pakistan, Benazir Bhutto, was assasinated this morning after a political rally.

When she took office in 1988, Bhutto was the youngest person and first woman in modern times to head the government of an Islamic state. She was a strong proponent of democracy and women’s rights in Pakistan.
