The Pikes Peak Library District has started a text messaging service that will send Hold, Reminder, Favorites and Overdue Notices to you via your cell phone. When you opt in for this service, only these types of communications will be sent to your cell phone number.
The Library does not charge to send text messages. You are responsible for any charges you incur due to receiving text messages from the Pikes Peak Library District. Topic: “Role of Development in U.S. National Security Strategy”
Dr. Menarchik was appointed by President George W. Bush and Senate-confirmed in June 2007 as Assistant Administrator of the Bureau for Europe and Eurasia, U.S. Agency for International Development. He also serves as Assistant Administrator for Policy and Program Coordination. As Acting Assistant Administrator for Europe and Eurasia, Menarchik directs a $700 million annual budget which supports economic growth and fiscal reform, democracy-building and social transition projects in 23 European and Eurasian countries receiving U.S. foreign assistance.
Dr. Menarchik represents USAID as the principal interlocutor with the National Security Council, Department of State, Department of Defense (DoD), and other U.S. Government agencies regarding policy and programming in the region. As Assistant Administrator for Policy and Program Coordination, Menarchik manages the bureau that formulates strategic policy, develops strategy, sets priorities, oversees and evaluates programs, and allocates funding for the Agency’s work, which is implemented by more than 8,000 employees in over 100 countries.

Legendary singer, songwriter, actress and human rights activist Odetta will perform as part of CC’s Black History Celebration. Dubbed by Martin Luther King, Jr. as the “Queen of American Folk Music”, she has been cited as the main influence of artists such as Janis Joplin, Bob Dylan, Sweet Honey in the Rock, Tracy Chapman, Carly Simon and Jewel. Her most recent album, “Gonna Let it Shine,” received a 2007 Grammy nod and Real Blues Magazine referred to it as “the most important album of this generation.” Sponsored by a generous alumnus grant, the president’s office, office of the vice president for student life/dean of students, office of minority student life, LiveSounds and the Black Student Union.
