PPLD.org Home Page

In the interest of making ppld.org more user-friendly, the following small changes have been made to our home page:

  • The link “The Catalog @ Your Library” has been changed to “The Catalog”
  • The link “Community Database” has been changed to “Community Information”
  • The link “Happenings @ Your Library” has been changed to “Programs and Events”
  • The link “Branch Hours and Information” has been moved to the top right spot of the page

We hope these changes help you use our site more easily.

Local Authors Appearance at Briargate

The Hero Within: Healing Troubled Boys at Colorado Boys Ranch Local authors Cynthia Quicksall Landsberg and Judith Pettibone will make an appearance at Briargate Branch to discuss their book, The Hero Within: Healing Troubled Boys at Colorado Boys Ranch.

Registration is not required for this program.
Copies of their book will be available for purchase.

New Branch is Named

PPLDs Board of Trustees met on Tuesday, May 27, 2008 and voted to approve the choice made by community members and others involved in the planning process for this new library, which will serve residents of Falcon and other parts of Eastern El Paso County.

The new Falcon-area branch will be named the High Prairie Branch. The new branch will open in 2009.

Special thanks to all who participated in this process.

FREE Family Festival Day

West African Percussion and Dancing on stage at the Pikes Peak Center. Pass it on!

June 8, 2008
2:30 p.m.

Family activities in the lobby one hour prior to performance will include hands-on fun, live animals, performances and give-aways from: COPPeR, Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, FutureSelf, Pikes Peak Blues, Pikes Peak Jazz & Swing, PAYO, Pikes Peak Children’s Museum, Peakharmonic Youth Orchestra, School District 11 Summer Camps, area dance organizations, and artist/author Michael Hague book signing!

This is a FREE event, however a ticket is required. Tickets may be picked up at the Pikes Peak Center box office from Friday, May 23rd through the day of the show. All tickets will be issued on a first come, first served basis. Call 597-3344 for more information.

Imagination Celebration’s Free Family Festival Day is underwritten by The Pikes Peak Center and Ent Federal Credit Union, with additional support from The Citadel, Colorado Council on the Arts, Gazette Charities, Lockheed Martin, Pikes Peak Library District and Wendy’s. National Library Legislative Day

A team of 11 Coloradoans visited the capital to lobby for libraries on May 13-14 for National Library Legislative Day. We were able to meet with representatives from the offices of all our legislators and personally with both Senator Ken Salazar and Representative John Salazar. Pictured here from left to right are Camila Alire, incoming ALA President, Carolyn Coulter and Dee Vazquez from Pikes Peak Library District, Stevan Strain (Board member) and Rochelle Logan from Douglas County Libraries, Senator Ken Salazar, Gene Hainer, Colorado State Library Director, Shelley Walchak, Colorado Chapter Councilor, Jody Howard, incoming CAL President, John Wilkinson, City of Aspen Mayor and Library Board member, Elena Rosenfeld, High Plains Library District, and Paul Mascarenas, Adams State College.
