Multicultural Celebration at Briargate!
Celebrating Diversity through Stories!
Come to the Briargate Branch for a storytelling celebration on Saturday, August 22 at 1:30 p.m.
There will 4 storytellers with stories from India, Africa, the American West and England. PPLD’s own Heather Lyle will be one of the storytellers. Danyda Feldman, also known as Talespinner, will tell a traditional story from her native England. Visa, a native of India, will tell a traditional Indian tale. Briargate Branch employee Karen Jenista and her husband, Jim, will tell a tale of the American West.
These stories are suitable for all ages so bring the entire family! Stay for more cultural diversity with a variety of crafts for kids. We’ll have an oragami project and the Ojo de Dios.

Author Frank McCourt passed away on July 19. He was 78 years old. Mr. McCourt is most famous for writing the memoir Angela’s Ashes, which won the National Book Critics Circle Award and the Pulitzer Prize in 1997.

Hailing from the fictional Belgistan region of Eastern Belgium, their tantalizing music incorporates a variety of classic and exotic instruments, from trumpets to karbakas. Inspired by Arab and Gypsy music, La Fanfare updates traditional forms by fusing them with elements of trance, dance, and jazz music. The show is presented by PPLD, Colorado College, and KRCC Concerts. You can listen to a couple of their songs below.
