Tai Chi Basics

Begin your Tai Chi journey HERE with the Basics. Class is 45 minutes long. No experience necessary. Please wear comfortable clothing. Everyone welcome. Learn from Philip Selva, Certified Tai Chi Instructor. Please consult your physician prior to participation in this program.

55+ Computer Basics 1-on-1 sessions

Do you need a computer tutor? Sign up for a 1-on-1 session! Topics can include: Mouse Basics; Computer/Windows Basics; Email Basics; Facebook Basics; Microsoft Word Basics; Internet Basics; Ereaders. Yoga Foundations

Join Jen and PPLD staff for this hour-long yoga class @Venue21c. No experience necessary. All levels welcome. Bring your own mat. Please consult your physician prior to participation in this program.

El Paso County Health and Human Services Outreach (DHS)

When: Wednesday, April 26, 2017 - 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM
Where: Penrose Library - 20 North Cascade at Pine Room

Representatives from El Paso Health and Human Services (DHS) will be available to assist patrons at the Penrose Library.

Make II Open Hours

When: Wednesday, April 26, 2017 - 1:00 PM - 6:00 PM
Where: Library21c -1175 Chapel Hills Drive at Make II (Messy Maker Space)

During Open Hours, Make II is available for patrons to work on their own projects while a PPLD staff member is present. Equipment and supplies are available on a first come basis. Patrons must be badged to use a machine during a separate appointment before being able to use the machines in open hours. To inquire about badging, please call 719-884-9800, x 6364.

All patrons in the space must be at least 9 years old. 9-11 year olds must be accompanied by a guardian at all times. Parent/guardian supervision is welcome for all minors over age 12.

Art in Embroidery

When: Wednesday, April 26, 2017 - 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM
Where: Library21c -1175 Chapel Hills Drive at Make (Clean Maker Space)

This four-week course will delve into two needlework techniques, Crazy Quilting and Blackwork.

Crazy Quilting was popular during the Victorian era. Crazy quilts were made from all sorts of fabrics into unrestrained designs, incorporating memorabilia. The class will spend two weeks discovering various embroidery stitches to be used while completing a personal Crazy Quilt square. Each student will complete their own square with embroidery stitches, lace, beads, and other personal memorabilia.

Blackwork is a needlework technique that was popular during the Tudor era. Repetitive geometric patterns are used to create the design. The class will spend the final two weeks working on a blackwork sampler.

Registration is required and is for a four-week course. This class is for ages 18+. Supplies will be provided.

Excel Boot Camp

Want a quick crash course in Excel, but can't make our normal monthly classes? Excel Boot Camp will cover Excel I-III in one week. We will cover everything from basic spreadsheet creation to complex formulas, Pivot, and macros!

Tech and Gadget Happy Hour--Little Bits

Drop by and check out tech and gadget kits not limited to Robots, circuitry, lego robots, Cubelets, and other tech related items. Stay the full time, or just spend a few minutes.

Teen Arts and Crafts Studio: Clay Magnets

When: Wednesday, April 26, 2017 - 4:00 PM - 5:30 PM
Where: Monument Library - 1706 Lake Woodmoor Drive at Monument Meeting Room

Hey Teens! On the last Wednesday of each month, come use our Meeting Room as a space to create! Supplies will be provided as available; however, feel free to bring whatever materials you are currently working with and use the space. This month we'll be featuring magnet-making as our craft. We will be using air-dry clay to create our own unique magnets.

Home Selling Basics

When: Wednesday, April 26, 2017 - 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM
Where: Library21c -1175 Chapel Hills Drive at B6

This class covers the basics of selling your home. It will provide you with information such as the listing contract, disclosure forms, preparing your home to sell, pricing your home (how the market talks to you about the price of your home), staging, and marketing. It also covers what to look for in the contract when receiving an offer from a buyer and negotiating that offer. Other subjects covered will be the home inspection, inspection objection and resolution, appraisals, and potential stumbling blocks on the way to closing the sale of your home.

Excel II Class

In this class, you will learn more complex tools, charts, formulas, and sorting of an Excel worksheet in Excel 2010.

GED / HiSET / TASC classes

This class will help adults without a high school diploma prepare to take the GED, HiSET, or TASC high school equivalency exams. Registration is required. Upcycled Pet Toys

When: Wednesday, April 26, 2017 - 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM
Where: East Library - 5550 N. Union Blvd. at EA Makerspace

Stop by this month to make a new or upcycled toy for your favorite canine or feline friend, or bring in a well-loved toy in need of some TLC for new stuffing, squeakers, and repairs.

While supplies last. No registration is required. Ages 12 and up.

Speak English

When: Wednesday, April 26, 2017 - 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM
Where: Cheyenne Mountain Library - 1785 S. 8th Street Suite 100 at Cheyenne Meeting Room

Speak English is an informal English language conversation group for adults who speak some English. Each group meets once a week. Participation is free and no registration is necessary.

Put Facebook to work for your business by learning the basics of Facebook Business Pages. Create your page, learn to navigate the interface, and get tips on the types of content that drives interest in your business.

Pre-requisite: Students must already have a personal Facebook page and know their login information.

Microsoft Excel III Class

When: Thursday, April 27, 2017 - 9:00 AM - 10:30 AM
Where: East Library - 5550 N. Union Blvd. at East Computer Lab

The goal of this class is to learn and better understand different types of references and more complex formulas in Excel.
Prerequisites: Excel I, Excel II, and a strong understanding of computer use. Call 884-9800 to register, or register online.
