1-on-1 Computer Session

Don’t see a computer class offering what you need? SIGN UP for a 1-on-1 session! Topics can include: Mouse Basics; Computer/Windows Basics; Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher); Internet Basics and Email; Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, LinkedIn, Prezi, and Craigslist; Ereaders; and transferring digital photographs to a computer. Laptop Lab

Library laptops are available for use in our downstairs meeting room. Library staff will be on hand either to assist with personal projects (class work, to job skills to Microsoft Office products, Facebook, Craigslist and more) or we can provide practice materials on computer basics. Microsoft Excel - I Class

In this class, you will learn how to create, manipulate, and format a basic spreadsheet in Excel 2010.

Intro to Microsoft Excel (2010)

Learn skills to create, open, edit, format, save and print spreadsheets. Registration required. Prerequisite: experience using a computer, mouse and keyboard, or Computer Basics class.

Excel III-2013 Edition

When: Tuesday, March 28, 2017 - 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM
Where: Library21c -1175 Chapel Hills Drive at Petritz Learning Lab

The goal of this class is to learn and better understand different types of references, more complex formulas, and creating macros in Excel 2013.

Prerequisites: Excel I, Excel II, and a strong understanding of computer use. Call 884-9800 to register, or register online.

Word II Class

Become familiar with advanced features of Microsoft Word such as: setting margins, inserting tables, columns, borders, footnotes, etc. Prerequisites: Introduction to Microsoft Word and Internet Basics, or have familiarity with the internet.

Photo-Editing with GIMP

Learn to edit your photos without paying the hefty price tag for professional software like Photoshop or Corel. GIMP is a free downloadable software you can use at home to accomplish most of your photo-editing needs.

In this class, we'll teach you the basics of how to adjust the lighting in your pictures, crop out unnecessary parts, remove red-eye, edit the foreground and background elements, and more.

This class is for advanced computer users who are very comfortable with computer navigation and have experience using a variety of software including Microsoft Office products. Best suited for students 13+; Ages 9-12 must be accompanied by an adult.

Word II Class

Device/Computer Help Drop-in Lab

Where: Penrose Library - 20 North Cascade at Penrose Bay Area

For patrons with specific trouble shooting needs or help beyond the materials covered in other library computer classes. If the user just needs beginner instruction, sign them up for computer basics, internet basics, word, etc. Remind the patron to bring their device to the appointment if possible.

Digital Sculpting with Meshmixer

Looking for a different way to create 3D Models? Meshmixer gives you the power to sculpt chunks of digital clay to create unique shapes. From sculptures, to unique faces, to monstrous animal combinations, Digital Sculpting opens up the more freeform organic side of 3D Modeling.

This class is for advanced computer users who are very comfortable with computer navigation and have experience using a variety of software including Microsoft Office products. Attending the "Intro to 3D Modeling with 123D Design" class is highly recommended.

This class is best suited for students 12 and over. Students 9-11 must be accompanied by an adult.

Word I Class

In this class you will become familiar with basic word processing skills necessary to create and save word documents by learning to read the Microsoft Word screen and entering and manipulating basic text.
Prerequisites: Completion of (55+) Computer Basics and experience using a mouse and keyboard

Python Beginner's Workshop

When: Saturday, April 08, 2017 - 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM
Where: Library21c -1175 Chapel Hills Drive at Petritz Learning Lab

In this full-day workshop, we will learn the basics of Python, a computer programming language. We’ll start the day with lectures on the basic concepts of the language. In the afternoon we will break out into groups to work on projects related to twitter, python graphics and text processing.
Presented in collaboration with PySprings.
We will break for lunch from 12-1.
