In 2005 Dr. Uphoff was awarded his tenth Black Belt from the USMA Association (to the third degree level): he was awarded a Nidan Black Belt in Judo by the Judo Grandmaster, Philip Porter. In 2006 Dr. Uphoff was awarded the degree of San Dan in Judo and Yodan in Jujitsn (Fourth Degree Black Belt).
