55+ Beginning Computer class series

Meeting for 5 class sessions, students in this class will cover a different topic each class related to basic computer skills. No registration required, walk-ins welcome!! Limit 12 students per class.

Excel I

When: Thursday, May 17, 2012 - 8:30 AM
Where: Ruth Holley Branch - 685 North Murray Blvd. at Ruth Holley Computer Lab

Learn how to create, manipulate, and format a basic spreadsheet. This class uses Excel 2007. No registration required. Walk-ins welcome. Prerequisite: Ability to use mouse, keyboard, and Windows.

Word II

Become familiar with more advanced formatting features of Microsoft Word to make a professional looking page. Prerequisites: Word I for Office 2007. Call 389-8968 to register.

Become familiar with the parts of a computer, including the mouse, and practice simple navigation in a screen and window environment. Learn how to enter information using the keyboard. This is a 3 class series. Patron is signing up for ALL three classes when signing up for ANY of the sessions.

Computer Study Hall

Where: Sand Creek Branch - 1821 South Academy Blvd. at Sand Creek Study Room

Computer Study Hall-designed as follow on to scheduled computer classes as a question and answer session with patrons working on their own laptops and developing proficiency with Windows computer programs. Each session is focused on the preceding computer class.

One-on-one Computer Assistance on Thursday afternoon

Need instruction or a brush up on basic 2007 Microsoft Office skills? These evening classes are offered to those looking for job skills or just needing to improve their ability. We work on laptops, but a mouse is provided. Register below or call the library at 719-634-1698. If the class is full, walk-ins are welcome to observe or work on their own laptop. Tonight's session: PowerPoint I. Learn how to create a slide or series of slides, manipulate, and format them for reports, presentations or printouts. Prerequisites: Computer 101 or experience using a mouse and keyboard

In this class you will learn more complex formatting, charts, formulas, and sorting of an Excel worksheet
Prerequisites: Completion of Excel I

Windows XP Basics Class

When: Monday, May 21, 2012 - 8:30 AM
Where: East Library - 5550 N. Union Blvd. at East Computer Lab

Become familiar with the parts of Microsoft Windows XP by learning terminology, ways to open windows, how to toggle between windows and how to save and open files.
