Laser Cutter/Engraver Demo

Excel III- 2013 Edition

When: Monday, August 31, 2015 - 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM
Where: Library21c -1175 Chapel Hills Drive at Petritz Learning Lab

The goal of this class is to learn and better understand different types of references, more complex formulas, and creating macros in Excel 2013.

Prerequisites: Excel I, Excel II, and a strong understanding of computer use. Call 884-9800 to register, or register online.

Tai Chi

Tai-Chi for adults. We will be on our feet the whole time working on slow gentle, extended movements that will strengthen muscles and improve endurance, balance, flexibility and coordination. Wear loose clothing and flat footwear. Bring water and hand towel as needed during exercise. All are welcome.

Bridge Program

AT&T oxyGEN is pleased to welcome you to our 2015 National Community Outreach Program, Bridge. The goal of Bridge is to help adults improve their lives through technology. Bridge workshops are presented by AT&T employees to educate adults through powerful interactions with smartphones, tablets, and other AT&T products and services. These workshops will include direct dialogue around features and applications of interest to those new to connected devices.

Introduction to 3D Modeling using 123D Design

An introduction to Autodesk's free 3D Modeling software. Great for those who want to get started in designing their own models for 3D Printing. This class is for advanced computer users who are very comfortable with computer navigation and have experience using a variety of software including Microsoft Office products, but no previous 3D Modeling experience is needed. This class is best suited for students 13 and over. Students 9-11 must be accompanied by an adult.

Maker/Artist in Residence: Sculpture

All Wrapped Up

Paper is a perfect sculptural medium; it’s easy to work with, resilient and fairly forgiving. We’ll spend a few minutes going over papermaking basics and then we’ll make paper from abaca pulp, a high shrink pulp. While the paper is in the press we’ll create armatures using common, everyday objects and wire. Then we’ll sculpt! We’ll cover our armatures using our freshly pressed abaca sheets. This will be a jam packed and dynamic intensive in sculptural papermaking so put on your sneakers and be ready to rock! Registration is required and space is limited. Supplies will be provided. Patron must be at least 16 years of age to attend.

Interested in touching up some pictures, but can't afford the price tag for professional software like Photoshop or Corel? Not to worry! GIMP is a free downloadable software you can use at home to accomplish most of your photo-editing needs.

In this class, we'll teach you the basics of how to adjust the lighting in your pictures, crop out unnecessary parts, remove red-eye, edit the foreground and background elements, and more.
