Presenter Bios

John M. Hutchins, J.D., is an Assistant United States Attorney in Denver, Colorado and a prize-winning amateur historian. Mr. Hutchins was awarded a J.D. at the University of Colorado School of Law in Boulder, Colorado. Mr. Hutchins is a retired Major, U.S. Army Reserve as well as a former City Councilman in Northglenn, Colorado. He has received historical writing awards from the U.S. Army Historical Center and the Westerners International and has presented historical papers at numerous historic sites and conferences. Mr. Hutchins has served as a guide at the University of Colorado Museum, has been a Civil War Re-enactor at Fort Hood, Texas. He is a member of the Colorado State Historical Society and the Denver Posse of Westerners. Mr. Hutchins was a presenter at the “To Spare No Pains,” Zebulon Montgomery Pike and His 1806-1807 Southwest Expedition symposium and his well-reviewed paper, "Aaron Burr, James Wilkinson, Zebulon Pike & the Great Louisiana Conspiracy: A Veteran Prosecutor & Amateur Historian Looks at the Evidence," appears in the symposium proceedings.
