Presenter Bios
Joyce B. Lohse is a Denver area journalist, genealogist, and author who writes biographies about characters from Colorado’s history for “Now You Know Bios” a child-friendly series from Filter Press, Palmer Lake, Colorado. Justina Ford: Medical Pioneer, was finalist for the CIPA (Colorado Independent Publishers Association) EVVY Award and the WILLA Award. First Governor, First Lady: John and Eliza Routt of Colorado, won Best Biography in 2003 from CIPA. Joyce Lohse is administrator for Women Writing the West, a national writers’ group. She serves on the Board of Directors for the Columbine Genealogical and Historical Society in Littleton, Colorado. From 1977 to 1992, Joyce Lohse, was co-owner/operator of The Letter Setters, a typography and graphics firm in Colorado Springs. Ms. Lohse is the author of several award-winning biographies, including Unsinkable Mrs. J. J. Brown: The Molly Brown Story; Emily Griffith: Opportunity's Teacher; Justina Ford: Medical Pioneer; First Governor, First Lady: John and Eliza Routt of Colorado, an historical novel, A Yellowstone Savage: Life In Nature's Wonderland and will soon publish General Palmer’s Railroad.
