New this year: an emphasis on toddlers and “tweens”

Colorado Springs, Colo. – Beginning Monday, children from birth to 18 are invited to visit the library for Pikes Peak Library District’s annual summer reading program. This year’s “Be Creative” program gives tots, tweens and teens a chance to showcase their artistic talents and enjoy imaginative performances from local puppeteers, storytellers, musicians, magicians, and actors.

Toddler Time

When: Thursday, July 30, 2015 - 9:30 AM - 10:00 AM
Where: Monument Library - 1706 Lake Woodmoor Drive at Monument Meeting Room

One and two-year-old children, with a favorite adult, participate in nursery rhymes, music and movement, and listen to a few short books. Toddler Time builds on familiar experiences to introduce new vocabulary and word sounds in a lively atmosphere.

Toddler TIme

Three sessions available at 9:30, 10:00, and 10:30 a.m. One and two-year-old children, with a favorite adult, participate in nursery rhymes, music and movement, and listen to a few short books. Toddler Time builds on familiar experiences to introduce new vocabulary and word sounds in a lively atmosphere. (20-25 minutes)

Baby Time

When: Thursday, July 30, 2015 - 10:00 AM - 10:45 AM
Where: Library21c -1175 Chapel Hills Drive at Children's Room

Babies from birth to 12 months, with a favorite adult, enjoy songs, bouncing action rhymes, and sharing a book together. Each interactive session gives babies the opportunity to hear lots of language and play with other babies. Space is limited. (20 minutes + 20 minute playtime)

Stories and Crafts

When: Thursday, July 30, 2015 - 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM
Where: Rockrimmon Library - 832 Village Center Drive at Rockrimmon Meeting Room

Join us in some summer fun as we read a few stories and do craft projects together. This special summer program is every Thursday morning during June and July. Stories and crafts are chosen for school age children.

Every Day Heroes Book Break

55+ Basic Computer Class Series

When: Thursday, July 30, 2015 - 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Where: Penrose Library - 20 North Cascade at Penrose Computer Lab

Meeting for 2 class sessions, students in this class will cover a different topic each class related to basic computer skills.
Patron will be signing up for both classes.

Sand Creek Book Club "A Discovery of Witches" by Deborah Harkness

When: Thursday, July 30, 2015 - 10:30 AM - 12:00 PM
Where: Sand Creek Library - 1821 South Academy Blvd. at Sand Creek Meeting Room

In this tale of passion and obsession, Diana Bishop, a young scholar and a descendant of witches, discovers a long-lost and enchanted alchemical manuscript, Ashmole 782, deep in Oxford's Bodleian Library.
Come join the group. As always, coffee and donuts will be served.
