All Pikes Peak Read: Will Rogers Film Fest

When: Sunday, September 28, 2014 - 2:00 PM - 6:00 PM
Where: Penrose Library - 20 North Cascade at Penrose Carnegie Reading Room

Between 1918 and 1935, Will Rogers made 71 films. Dr. Doug Watson, in character as Rogers, will make comments on two of these films: They Had to See Paris (1929) and Down to Earth (1932). Will looks at his treatments of the economy and family values in these films and also serves up the classic short Ropin’ Fool (1921), a spoof on the movies and a film record of his own rope tricks.

When: 3rd Friday of every month starting in September

Summary: Homeschooled students can use PPLD's science equipment for parent-assigned experiments, with the help of our volunteer. A parent must accompany the student.

The Homeschool Science Lab is open to all ages, and no registration is required!

“Talking It Out: Getting to Agreement” is a unique photo and story exhibit that features Coloradans working together to solve problems. The exhibit tells the stories of people and communities who have made a choice to solve their problems constructively. It gives evidence of the changes that can be made when we deliberately choose collaborative conflict resolution methods.

Also, their lecture will cover their documentary series, Walking History that combines two genres- historical documentary and paranormal investigation of locations all over Colorado. You will get to examine the actual equipment used on investigations and learn about deceptive use of new devices that have appeared on the market. We guarantee these two will demystify but intensify your fascination of the paranormal phenomenon. This program will be held at Venue 515, 515 Manitou Ave.

Bring a sack lunch to enjoy after the program as you spend time getting to know other Homeschool families. Programs are geared toward elementary-age children but siblings older and younger are welcome!
