Homeschool Lunch Bunch "Read It Before You See It" Book Club

Homeschool families bring a sack lunch to enjoy. We'll focus on different book each month, with a brief discussion followed by the movie adaptation. All books chosen will have G or PG movie ratings. We encourage you to read the book together as a family before the program. Books for the upcoming month will be available at each program for checkout. September's book is "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe" by C. S. Lewis. The movie, "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe," is 143 minutes, rated PG.

Family Fun: Fountain Arts Center performing "Gwendolyn the Graceful Pig"

Enjoy a perfect day of ballet fun for the budding dancers and story lovers in your family when ballerinas from the Fountain Arts Center take center stage at the Fountain Public Library. Fountain Arts Center voice student, Abigail Brannen will read the picture book, Gwendolyn, the Graceful Pig,while the dancers perform the story.
Gwendolyn, the Graceful Pig tells the tale of Gwendolyn and Omar – two best friends who have big dreams. Gwendolyn longs to dance ballet and Omar wants to join the football team. There is just one problem – they are both pigs! Fountain Arts Center Ballet Company is excited to present this very imaginative tale promoting both literacy and movement. Author signed copies of the book will be available for purchase. The event is free. Bring your cameras.

Colorado Springs, Colo. – Beginning Monday, children from birth to 18 are invited to visit the library for Pikes Peak Library District’s annual summer reading program. This year’s “Be Creative” program gives tots, tweens and teens a chance to showcase their artistic talents and enjoy imaginative performances from local puppeteers, storytellers, musicians, magicians, and actors.
