New this year: an emphasis on toddlers and “tweens”

Colorado Springs, Colo. – Beginning Monday, children from birth to 18 are invited to visit the library for Pikes Peak Library District’s annual summer reading program. This year’s “Be Creative” program gives tots, tweens and teens a chance to showcase their artistic talents and enjoy imaginative performances from local puppeteers, storytellers, musicians, magicians, and actors.

Don’t see a computer class offering what you need? Sign up for a 1-on-1 session! Topics can include: Mouse Basics; Computer/Windows Basics; Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher); Internet Basics and Email; Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, LinkedIn, Prezi, and Craigslist; Ereaders; and transferring digital photographs to a computer. A reservation must be made and the topic approved in advance. Sessions are 45 minutes long. Contact Cheyenne Mountain Library to set up an appointment: 633-6278.

Baby Time

Babies from birth to 12 months, with a favorite adult, enjoy songs, bouncing action rhymes, and sharing a book together. Each interactive session gives babies the opportunity to hear lots of language and play with other babies. Space is limited to 10 babies with accompanying adult.

Bright From the Start Parent-Child Workshop

This free five-week workshop focuses on children ages 1-3 with a favorite adult. You and your child will enjoy playtime with educational toys while connecting with other families and local resource professionals. Topics include early literacy, child development, nutrition, speech and language and music and movement. Plan on attending all five weeks. Registration required.

Book Break
