Financial Assistance Outreach

Care and Share

Come to the library and apply for assistance programs in a confidential setting. On the third Friday of each month at Ruth Holley Library from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. and Fountain Library from 2 - 5 p.m., Care and Share can help you apply for SNAP (formerly food stamps) or Colorado Employment First (increasing employment for food assistance recipients). Applications are also available for LEAP, the program designed to help pay heating costs. Care and Share can also supply nutrition information and connections to local food banks. Call (719) 528-1247, x4602 for more information.

To apply for assistance, you will need to bring the following: proof of identity (driver’s license, birth certificate, etc.); proof of residence (rental or mortgage agreement); proof of immigration status for non-citizens; proof of monthly income (pay stubs, Social Security or VA benefit letters, etc.); proof of out-of-pocket child care expenses (bills, receipts); proof of monthly shelter costs (utility bills, property taxes, etc.); proof of monthly out-of-pocket medical expenses for elderly or disabled; and Social Security Numbers for all applying.
