Finding access to Nook ereaders
I guess since you have a limited supply of Nooks you want to keep it a secret, or so it seems. I found out through a friend that you loan out ereaders but when I went to find out more info about it I finally had to call a librarian to find the correct way to get to the right page. Could you put a link on your home page to make it a bit easier for the less technically inclined?
Thanks....
Hi there. You are right that
Hi there. You are right that we aren't promoting the eReaders right now. Initially this was because there were so many holds on them. Now that the hold list is gone we are in the process of uploading new titles on them. Once that is done we will market them once more. Sorry for the confusion!
ereader fines
I checked out a Nook to try it out. Pretty neat! It was due and I still had a couple of chapters left. I decided it would be worth a few bucks in overdue fines to be able to finish my book. Imagine my surprise to learn that the overdue fine was $20 for being four days late. Totally not worth it! I'm sure that information is posted somewhere, but I couldn't find it. I feel that's a bit unfair.
ereader fines
Thank you for trying the Nook. Sometimes when we introduce new services, we don't get all of the information points updated as soon as we should. We appreciate you pointing this out....we've updated the website with the Nook information. For being first in alerting us to this and allowing us to fix it, I've removed the charge from your account.
As a note to those interested, fines on Nooks are $5 per day. They are included under our three-day grace period, but once an item is overdue by 4 days, the total amount is due. Given the huge popularity of Nooks, we needed a relatively stiff fine to ensure we would get them back in a timely manner to provide other patrons the opportunity to check them out.
Can you borrow books with any ereader?
I am thinking about getting a Nook, but I was wondering if I will be able to check out books from the library? And can you only borrow books from the library with a Nook? Or can you borrow them with a Sony, Kindle, or any of the ereader off brands?
Thanks!!

I never knew the library
I never knew the library district would do something like this. Just placed a hold on it and got Queue 709 out of 710 by the time I placed I hold on it. I have a question where do you pick up the nook if it's ready to be picked up???
Wow, that's a lot of holds!
Wow, that's a lot of holds! You would pick it up at your home library (where you normally pick up your holds). To find out for sure which library that is, give us a call at 389-8968 and we'll look it up for you.
clarification
I think maybe the question to ask is where in the holds are the nooks kept? With the books? audio/visual? or do we have to talk to someone at the reference desk?
Ah. Yeah, they're held
Ah. Yeah, they're held behind the charge-out desk with the ILLs, so you would need to talk to a person at the charge-out desk to get it.
Now I am 697 out of 814

Can you add your books to it
Can you add your books to it while you have it or do you just get the 20 it comes with?

Nook
I love my Nook. This is a great way to see if its the right eReader for you. Nook is library compatible while Kindle is not(as of yet).
Nook
How exciting! I can hardly wait to check it out!
Titles
Will the library be adding more titles in the future?
Eventually we will, but maybe
Eventually we will, but maybe not for awhile.
Nook - renewal
I see that Nooks have the same check out time as a book. Are you also allowed to renew it twice like a book?
Thanks,
Please forgive me if this is a second request
Theoretically you can renew
Theoretically you can renew the Nooks once, but since there's a gigantic hold queue for them it'll be a long time before they can actually be renewed.
