Working with Search Results

View Options

There are three different view options for your search results: List view, Grid view, and Cooliris view. Click any of these icons to change the view ¹.

Viewing Results from Databases

Click on the "Click for Article Results" link to view search results from the Masterfile Premier article database ². You will have access to the same full text articles you would see if you executed your search directly in Masterfile Premier. To go back to the Library's search results, click the "Click for Catalog Results" link.

Paging

Click the Previous and Next icons ³ to move forward and backward through pages of search results.

Placing a Hold

Items in your search results that are holdable at theLlibrary will have a Place Hold button ⁴ that you can click to put the item on hold (see Placing Holds).

Note: You can also place a hold on an item by using the Select An Action menu (see Using the Select an Action Drop-Down Menu).

Selecting an Action

From the Select An Action drop-down menu ⁵, you can place holds on items, add items to your My Lists, and email or print item information. Select the items you want from your search results page by selecting the item check box(es) ⁶, or use the Select All check box ⁷ to select all items on the page. Then select the action you want to take from the Select An Action menu. (see Using the Select an Action Drop-Down Menu).

Saving Searches as RSS Feeds

If you use RSS, you can click the RSS icon ⁸ to save any of your searches as an RSS feed. This way, you can see updated results of your specified searches through your RSS reader.

Available Copies

In the search results, you can see if copies of a title are available.

To see which libraries have copies available, click on the title to go into the full detail view of the record.
In the "Available" tab, you can sort the copies by the "Status" column. Click on the word "Status" to re-sort the list of copies so that all copies that are checked out are listed together, and all copies that are on the shelf are listed together. You can more easily scan the list to see where the available copies are located.
