Homeschool Hub: Non-PPLD Programs

Do you know of a community program for homeschoolers? Is your group holding an event that is open to all homeschoolers? Do you want to hear about upcoming opportunities for your family in the Colorado Springs area? If you answered “yes!” to any of these questions then this is the place for you! This blog is for homeschool programs, classes, etc. not sponsored by PPLD.

To have something posted contact Carol at cscheer@ppld.org or (719) 531-6333 x2406. She will need all the necessary information two weeks in advance. Be sure to include: what it is, who can attend, when it is (date and time), where it is, and who to contact. If any pertinent information is missing it will not be posted.

Flute Blast-Off!

Learn to play flute in a fun group environment specifically for homeschoolers ages 9 - 12!

Jr. Space Explorers Entering Grades 1 - 2 M-Th 8:30 - 3:30 $255/ $280
Investigate planets, moons, stars, constellations, and more as you become a Jr. Space Explorer! Campers will participate in hands-on activties while strengthening reading & writing skills in a fun environment. Students will be introduced to basic programming and explore the solar system using Dash robots.

Astronaut Academy Entering Grades 3 - 4 M-Th 8:30 - 3:30 $255/ $280
Watch out NASA, here they come! Future astronauts will use Sphero Robotics, Lego® WeDo 2.0, and iPads to develop programming skills as they explore our Moon, Mars, and beyond. Build and launch paper rockets, learn what it takes to live and work on the International Space Station, and design a future Mars base. Campers will focus on the engineering side of space through challenges, games, and creative designs using 3D printing pens. Graduate from Astronaut Academy and you may be the first human on Mars!

Destination Mars 3.0 Entering Grades 5 - 7 M-Th 8:30 - 3:30 $255/ $280
Design, build, and program future missions using Lego® Mindstorms EV3 robotic kits and the Lego® Space Challenge Set, which consists of seven missions: activate communications, assemble your crew, free the MSL Robot, launch the satellite into orbit, return rock samples, secure power supply, and initiate
launch. The last mission, Initiate Launch, brings all the Space Challenges to an end. Discover what it will take to plan and launch future space missions allowing humans to reach our next space destination…MARS!
