Maker in Residence
PPLD's makerspaces are great places for generating creativity, innovation, and learning. To foster such endeavors, PPLD has a Maker in Residence program.
Makers have an 8-week contract. During that time, they work on a studio/lab project, and teach classes at Library 21c, East Library, Sand Creek Library, two other PPLD locations, and the Manitou Art Center.
If you are interested in dropping by and talking with our resident maker, you can check our calendar for when he/she will be in Make for studio time. You can also sign up for one of the classes being offered.

Over the last 5 years, the PPLD Maker in Residence program hosted over 30 creative individuals, who introduced the El Paso County community to a wide range of projects and ideas including the following:
- Bookbinding & Papermaking
- Drawing & Painting (acrylics, watercolors, oils, alcohol ink)
- Stop Motion / Animation
- Songwriting & Dancing
- Polymer Clay
- Origami
- Sewing
To celebrate past successes and embrace new trends and possibilities, the 2020 Maker in Residence Program has been redeveloped to further inspire and empower making and creativity.

Thank you for your interest
Thank you for your interest in the Maker in Residence program! We get all of our makers and artists through a Call that we hold usually 2-3 times a year. We currently don't have a Call for Makers open. We hope to have one in October, 2016. The process for applying, the application, and proposal requirements will all be posted on the website during the Call.

I am an Art Teacher/Therapist
I have been painting using oil, acrylic, watercolor, colored pencils all my life. I would like to teach a class on using Art as therapy with a method given through inspiration that is a form of creativity that professional Art Therapists use. It is very effective in diffusing distressing memories.
