Penrose Magazine Sale

English as a Second Language (ESL)

When: Tuesday, February 28, 2017 - 8:30 AM - 11:30 AM
Where: Sand Creek Library - 1821 South Academy Blvd. at Sand Creek Meeting Room

For adults wanting to improve their workplace and every day English language skills. Classes provide instruction in reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Registration is required. GED / HiSET / TASC classes

This class will help adults without a high school diploma prepare to take the GED, HiSET, or TASC high school equivalency exams. Registration is required. Laptop Lab

When: Tuesday, February 28, 2017 - 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM
Where: Old Colorado City Library - 2418 West Pikes Peak at Old Colorado City Meeting Room

Library laptops are available for use in our downstairs meeting room. Library staff will be on hand either to assist with personal projects (class work, to job skills to Microsoft Office products, Facebook, Craigslist and more) or we can provide practice materials on computer basics. No registration required, but limited to first 10 attendees. Call the library for more information.

AARP Tax-Aide

Senior Chats

MAKE @ East Open Hours

When: Tuesday, February 28, 2017 - 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM
Where: East Library - 5550 N. Union Blvd. at EA Makerspace

During Open Hours MAKE @ East is available for patrons to work on their own projects while a trained PPLD staff member is present. Equipment and supplies are available on a first come basis.

All patrons in the space must be at least 9 years old. Ages 9-11 must be accompanied by a guardian at all times. Parent/guardian supervision is welcome for all minors over age 12.

Strength without Weights

Strength without Weights - More muscle means burning more calories and having more energy to do daily activities without fatigue. This 50 minute class will tone and strengthen your body using your own body weight and exercise bands.

Acrylic Painting for Beginners with Robert Schmitz

Learn how to paint with acrylics to create your own artwork with artist Robert Schmitz. This five class series is free and is intended for older adults who have not yet taken an acrylic painting class with Robert Schmitz at PPLD. This series runs from 2/28 through 4/4 with no class held on 3/14. Participants should be prepared to attend all five classes. All supplies will be furnished. Registration is required. Sit and Reach - a 40 minute class of flexibility exercises to help reduce anxiety and stress plus give you better ability to do daily activities with greater ease. A chair is used as a prop for both sitting and standing exercises to stretch your muscles from head to toe.

Yoga @ The Library

Join us for a free yoga class. Certified instructors will take you through a non-heated Vinyasa yoga flow class emphasizing basic poses, correct alignment, and breathing techniques. Please wear comfortable clothing and bring a yoga mat/towel, blocks, and straps. No registration required.
