All PPLD locations have the following equipment for patron use:

  • Track ball / mouse

East Library, Fountain Library, and Penrose Library provide assistive technology workstations with the following features:

  • Adjustable table and wrist rests
  • Large-print keyboard
  • Track ball mouse
  • Headphones and microphone
  • Speakers
  • Scanner
  • Touch screen LCD monitor (Fountain Branch)
  • IntelliSwitch system (Fountain Branch)

Software

  • JAWS: Screen reader for blind and low vision users
  • Magic: Screen magnifier
  • Dragon NaturallySpeaking: Voice recognition program. The user can control the computer by speaking to it.
  • OpenBook: Scanning/reading program. Printed material can be scanned and converted to synthesized speech.
  • Zoomtext: Magnifier/reader software (Penrose and East)
