"Speak English!" Facilitators

Speak English is an informal conversation group for adults with intermediate or better English language skills. Experience facilitating small groups is preferred. One year commitment.

Complete an application and return to the Literacy Office at Penrose Library.

ESL and Adult Literacy Tutors

Share your love of education with others! Tutor an adult once a week for 2 hours. You and the student get to choose a schedule that works for both of you. Work one-on-one with an adult to improve their reading, writing, comprehension or English language skills. There is a 1 year minimum time period when paired with a student. No teaching experience is required. Training is required and is located at Penrose Library.

ESL/GED Classroom Assistants

Assist an ESL or GED class instructor once or twice a week (mornings or evenings) in a classroom setting assisting instructor and students in classroom activities. Six month commitment.

Movie Time for English Language Learners

Informal group where learners watch a movie, stop at a natural pause point, and discuss in English what they did or did not understand. Experience facilitating a small group is preferred. One year commitment.
